Congratulations to AXIOM co-founder, Joe Oughtred, who successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge last month, raising more than £500 for homeless charity Emmaus in the process.

Joe walked the challenge alongside his wife, Gemma, and friends Vicki and Vincent from PropertyNest East Leeds – who were raising money for another homeless charity, Homeless Street Angels. The teams completed the gruelling route in 10 hours and 30 minutes on a damp and windy day at the end of July 2023.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is 24-miles (38.6km) round trip route, and includes a huge 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. It includes the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), and participants must complete the entire route within 12 hours.

To put it in perspective, it’s 62,000 steps and 522 flights of stairs – and it’s fair to say that Joe was feeling the effort in his legs for a few days afterwards! He said it was all worth it though, after raising £526 for the charity.

Emmaus is a homeless charity that supports people to work their way out of homelessness, providing meaningful work, training, support and a stable home for as long as someone needs it.
